Friends of Badger Mountain is planning a Candy Mountain hike Sept. 26, to be followed by wine tasting and dining at Kitzke Cellars in Richland.
The Hike, Wine and Dine event costs $30 per person. Proceeds go to Friends of Badger Mountain's Ridge Preservation and Trail Campaign, which aims to create a contiguous 20-mile trail starting at Amon Basin and spanning Little Badger, Badger, Candy and Red mountains to the Yakima River in the west.
The campaign's next step involves buying land to create a preserve on Candy Mountain and a trail link from Badger to Candy.
Hikers will meet at 5 p.m. at Kitzke Cellars to start the estimated one-hour hike.
Space is limited. Sign up by Sept. 23 by emailing Sharon Grant at sharon@friendsofbadger, or going to www.friendsofbadger.org.
