Walking in some areas of Walla Walla is about to get easier thanks to a $147,000 federal Transportation Alternatives Program grant.
The recently received grant will allow the city to add ramps and perform some minor sidewalk work at the northeast corner of the Plaza Way and Tietan Street intersection.
The sidewalk also will be repaired on the south side of Isaacs Avenue, east of the intersection with Wellington Avenue, according to city officials. A flashing beacon will be installed at a crosswalk at Rose Street just west of 13th Avenue, near the Family Medical Center. The crosswalk will receive additional improvements.
