The public comment period for a draft long-term management plan for the Blue Mountain forest ends Friday.
Among changes proposed in the draft plan are allowing wind farms on national forest land and adding three areas of wilderness to the Umatilla National Forest.
Questions have been raised by the Tollgate Trail Finders Snowmobile Club about whether the draft plan would restrict off-trail riding.
The Forest Service has received about 300 comment letters to date on topics such as access, wind farms, wilderness, forest products, fire and grazing.
Never miss a local story.
The draft plan is posted at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/BlueMtnsPlanRevision. Comments may be submitted at that website electronically or mailed to Blue Mountains Plan Revision Team, P.O. Box 907, Baker City, OR 97814.
