Gesa Credit Union is collecting donations for survivors of the wildfires in the north central part of the state and will match the community’s support up to a total of $15,000.
“The loss of family homes, livestock and personal property is devastating to those directly impacted but also to the entire community,” said Don Miller, Gesa’s president and CEO, in a news release. “We know many of the victims belong to credit unions and we have over 100 members in the areas of Pateros and Brewster.”
He added that, “our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their homes and the fire personnel who are still working to control this wildfire.”
Donations collected by Gesa will go to the Apple Valley chapter of the American Red Cross and will be used for housing and other immediate needs of survivors, the release said.
Donations can be made through any Gesa branch and must come in before Aug. 15 to count toward the match.
