A historian from Oak Ridge, Tenn., will give an overview of the Department of Energy site there at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Doris Roberts Gallery of the Richland Public Library.
Ray Smith will tell stories of how the East location was selected and the predictions of the "Prophet of Oak Ridge," illustrated with historical photos. The primary focus will be on the Y-12 Security Complex, but some Oak Ridge National Laboratory history also will be covered.
The event is sponsored by the Hanford History Partnership and The Friends of the Richland Public Library. Oak Ridge is one of the sites along with Hanford included in the proposed Manhattan Project National Historical Park.
