State Department of Transportation crews didn't get a construction project wrapped up in time Thursday, leading to delays of up to an hour for drivers on Highway 240 in Richland
Work had been scheduled to bring eastbound traffic down to one lane from Van Giesen Street to Aaron Drive between 7:30 and 3 p.m. Thursday , but crews did not have the area cleared until 4:15 p.m., said WSDOT Pasco Maintenance Supervisor Mark Brewster. The delay was caused by a piece of equipment breaking down.
"A 20-minute breakdown has an impact on pick-up time," Brewster said. "I can do nothing but share the fact that we do the best we can to minimize impact."
Workers are scheduled to be in the same area at the same time again on Monday. Brewster advises drivers to find alternate routes.
