Anthony's Restaurants plans to open a steakhouse, Budd's Broiler, at Columbia Point next year.
Construction is to begin in January to convert the company's banquet and event center into a second riverfront restaurant next door to its popular seafood restaurant.
Budd's Broiler is designed to be a comfortable steakhouse specializing in premium Northwest beef.
Anthony's has hired George Oakley and David McVey of the McVey Oakley Design Studio in Bellevue to design the new steakhouse, said a news release.
Their plan is to emphasize the riverfront setting near the Columbia Point Marina and create a restaurant for special occasions as well as casual, drop-in dining.
They describe the location as the perfect place to create a restaurant that captures the feel of an Anthony's and yet, is distinctive and can meet the expectations of area customers, said the company.
Anthony's has a history of working with Snake River Farms of Boise, Idaho, and the Double R Ranch in Toppenish to bring quality beef to its seafood restaurants, said the company.
Anthony's ages its own beef, and each restaurant hand cuts its steaks.
Budd's Broiler will continue to use those ranches and add a broader offering of meats and chops.
The menu also will include selections of Anthony's seafood, local in-season produce, Washington wines, beer and hand-crafted cocktails showcasing liquor from Washington distilleries, said the release.
"We are very excited to announce our new steakhouse. It was our original intent for the property when we purchased the location in 2006," Anthony's owner Budd Gould said in the release. "We believe that the time is right to make the transformation."
The event center at 450 Columbia Point Drive in Richland will continue to take bookings through Dec. 31, said the company.
