Richland’s park and recreation commission has recommended that the city council approve a six-year Transportation Improvement Program without the controversial extension of Rachel Road from Leslie Road to Steptoe Street.
Several residents have asked the city to drop the idea because it would involve crossing the Amon Creek Natural Preserve.
The commission voted 7-0 during Thursday night’s meeting to approve the six-year program as presented, with the Rachel Road project dropped.
Two commissioners were absent.
The Transportation Improvement Program now heads to the Richland Planning Commission.
The city council has the final say.
