A retired Kennewick police lieutenant and private investigator died Saturday in Kennewick.
Francis Michael Hambelton -- who went by Mike -- lived in the Tri-Cities for more than 50 years with his wife, Beverly.
The Enterprise, Ore., native was 74 and living in Kennewick at the time of his death.
Hambelton retired as Kennewick's lieutenant in charge of investigations in 1989 after 26 years with the department.

He then became a Hanford Patrol major in charge of traffic, police dogs and criminal investigation. When the Benton County Sheriff's Office took over those functions, Hambelton became Westinghouse Hanford security's senior investigator.
He later went into private work.
Hambelton also was a member of the Columbia Basin Shrine Club, the Kennewick Kiwanis, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Elks Lodge in Enterprise.
Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home of Kennewick is in charge of arrangements.
