A Kennewick High School graduate who has overseen the Kennewick School District's special education programs for 10 years will next oversee the district's almost 2,800 employees.
Doug Christensen will be assistant superintendent of human resources starting in August, a release said.
He replaces Assistant Superintendent Bev Johnson-Torelli, who is retiring.
Christensen taught at Richland and Kamiakin high schools before becoming an administrator.
He is also working toward a doctorate and teaches as an adjunct faculty member at Washington State University Tri-Cities.
