A Tri-Cities native who owns an appraisal service plans to run for Benton County assessor in this year's election.
Bill Spencer, 36, a Republican, has been a certified real estate appraiser for the past decade and he owns Spencer Appraisal Service, a news release said.
"As Benton County assessor, I will provide the county I love with value and proven leadership," the Richland man said in the release.
Spencer will have at least one opponent for the position. Mary Phillips, the county's geographic information systems manager, has announced plans to seek the post.
The current county assessor, Barbara Wagner, who took office in 1991, isn't seeking re-election to a seventh term.
Spencer has sought the assessor post before. He advanced past the primary in 2010 but lost to Wagner in the general election.
Filing week for this year's election is in May.
Spencer and his wife, Kimberly, have five children, ages 1 to 11. They're expecting a sixth child this fall.
