A Southridge High School student recently took first place in the regional finals for an annual drafting competition and moves on to compete at the national level.
Remy Plate's wins at the regional and local levels in the annual AutoCAD Drafting Competition sponsored by the National Association of Women in Construction has already earned her $750 in scholarships, a release said.
Students were charged with designing a home for an elderly couple.
"Remy did an excellent job reflecting her client's needs as well as delivering a clean, organized and aesthetically pleasing residence," said Melissa Bailey Slater, an official with the association's local chapter.
Never miss a local story.
National winners will be announced in mid-May. The top prize is a $1,500 scholarship.
