A 61-year-old motorist was injured Saturday morning when he failed to notice that traffic in front of him had stopped on Highway 240 and he hit an SUV, causing a series of crashes.
Thien V. Le was cited for speeding in the 9:10 a.m. incident on Highway 240 at Aaron Drive, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The Pasco man was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland to be treated for his injuries.
The state patrol report said eastbound traffic approaching Aaron came to “a rapid stop for a pedestrian in the roadway,” but Le didn’t stop due to inattention.
Never miss a local story.
Le’s 2011 Toyota Camry slammed into the back of a 2013 Cadillac SRX, which hit a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu and pushed that car into a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado truck.
The other three involved drivers were not injured.
All of them were wearing seat belts at the time, the state patrol said.
The Cadillac and the Malibu were reported as totaled and had to be towed. The pickup did not have any reportable damage and was driven away from the scene, the state patrol said.
