A small stretch of Wiser Parkway near Cottonwood Elementary School in Benton County remains closed while officials work to clear a wreck involving a semi-truck and a railroad maintenance vehicle.
No one was injured in the 2:30 p.m. collision. But the semi-truck, which tipped over, was hauling about a dozen dead cows bound for a rendering plant in Grandview.
Benton County Sheriff’s Cpl. Erik Magnuson told the Herald about 5:30 p.m. Friday that he expects the road will remain closed for another few hours.
The semi truck was crossing the railroad tracks near Wiser and East Badger Road when it was struck at a slow speed by a tamper car, Magnuson said. The tamper car doesn’t have the kind of equipment on it that triggers the railroad crossing gates, he said.
