A Kennewick woman and a toddler were injured Friday morning on Highway 124 and Flat Top Road about 2.5 miles from the Highway 12/Burbank interchange.
Olga Aguilar-Pina, 33, was driving a late model Nissan Altima eastbound Highway 124 when it left the roadway, hit a mailbox and then jumped an irrigation ditch and struck a concrete abutment, according to Washington State Patrol.
It appears Aguilar-Pina was not wearing a seat belt, but the little boy was in a carseat according to state patrol. Rescuers had to free Aguilar-Pena from underneath the dashboard of the car.
Initially people thought there was a fire, but the ruptured radiator was causing a lot of steam, according to state patrol.
Never miss a local story.
Aguilar-Pina, who had a head injury, was apparently able to talk to rescuers. She was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center, while the baby was sent to Trios Health.
