Two college students were killed Friday morning when the car they were riding in slid on ice into the path of a semi-truck, the Washington State Patrol said.
Ashley M. Gonzalez, 21, of Pasco, and Nancy G. Zepeda Zarate, 21, of Quincy, died in the 4:45 a.m. crash on Highway 195 south of Colfax, the WSP said.
Troopers said neither woman was wearing a seat belt.
Gonzalez, Zarate and two other women were driving toward Spokane in a Volkswagen Jetta when the driver lost control and skidded sideways into oncoming traffic and was hit by the semi, state patrol said.

Troopers said all the women are believed to be students at Eastern Washington University.
The driver, Erica Polito Mosso, 21, of Tonasket, was flown to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. She is in critical condition.
A third passenger, Carmen J. Gomez Villalpando, 22, of Walla Walla, was taken to Whitman Hospital in Colfax. Her condition was not immediately available.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
