A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed about 3 a.m. Sunday at a home on the 6000 block of Turnkey Road Northeast in the Larson Housing Area outside Moses Lake, the Grant Country Sheriff’s Office said.
Brandon Michael Mende was found on the lawn. He didn’t live at the home but knew people there, said Kyle Foreman, public information officer. “We’re still interviewing witnesses and trying to put together answers,” Foreman told the Herald about 8 p.m. Sunday.
The sheriff’s office said the shooting wasn’t random.
Mende was the victim of another shooting last month in the Larson Housing Area, Foreman said.
In that incident, Mende was riding his bike when he was chased and shot, Foreman said.
Foreman believed the teen was wounded in the shoulder. Witnesses of that shooting weren’t cooperative, Foreman said.
