For the eighth year, Pacific Power Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to support Fort Walla Walla Museum's admission-free school tour program, said Nancy Parry in a release.
The museum initiated the program 14 years ago to assist schools with maintaining educational field trips in an environment of increasing travel expenses.
The museum's team of volunteer docents has provided free tours to more than 65,000 participants in that time frame.
Schools booking tours for this spring and fall will also get to see a special exhibit on the Civil War featuring Walla Walla connections.
Never miss a local story.
This is thought to be the largest collection of original Civil War material on display in the Northwest, Nancy said.
Schools and home school groups can book tours by calling Fort Walla Walla Museum, 509-525-7703, or emailing programsfortwallawallamuseum.org. For more information on the museum, check out www.fortwallawallamuseum.org.
