The Benton Conservation District honored Jim Langdon and Dale Schielke with its 2013 Conservationist of the Year award.
The awards recognize people or organizations that make contributions to natural resources stewardship in Benton County.
Langdon was recognized with the Public Access Award to because of his "tireless" contributions to create and maintain the Badger Mountain trail system, used by about 170,000 hikers in 2012.
Schielke was recognized with the Wildlife Award for his efforts to build, install and maintain 300 wood duck nesting boxes, according to a news release. Schielke, an active member of the Richland Rod & Gun Club, teaches youths and volunteers how to build boxes.
