Music from the Baroque to modern eras can be heard tonight at the Elegy flute recital, featuring Swiss concert flutist Carole Reuge at NewEdge Inc. in Richland.
The free concert begins at 5 p.m. today with light hors d'oeuvres and beverages at NewEdge, 1350 Spaulding Ave. Richland.
"The 'Elegy' theme is inspired by Dutch composer Jan Karman's piece for solo flute called Elegie," Reuge said in a news release. "This program is all about nature, humans and the fragile link between both. Four pieces have been composed after 2000, and I am very honored to be able to play this new, poetic and inspiring music, showing that classical music is still very alive today. This concert is a great opportunity to share this new music in America."
After receiving her master's degree in music performance from La Chaux De Fonds Music Conservatory in Switzerland, Reuge started performing across Europe and North America. In 2013, Reuge decided to embark on a new journey by establishing and organizing the first flute festival in Switzerland, set for October.
