A 24-year-old Sunnyside man is behind bars for allegedly stabbing a 44-year-old man Saturday afternoon.
Yakima County sheriff’s deputies were responding at 1:20 p.m. to the 1000 block of East Alexander Road for a stabbing when a motorist flagged down a patrol car.
The motorist was driving the victim to a hospital, according to a Yakima County Sheriff’s Office report.
An ambulance was sent to their location near Alexander and Ray roads to get the victim.
The man, whose name was not released, reportedly had a non-life threatening stab wound. He also is from Sunnyside.
While deputies and paramedics were taking care of the victim, additional deputies went to the scene to arrest the suspect, the report said. They were assisted by Sunnyside police and Washington State Patrol troopers.
The suspect was booked into the Yakima County jail on suspicion of assault. His name also was not released by sheriff’s officials.
