A convicted child rapist who reportedly lied to officials about where he was staying was living on a woman's property for months before she realized he was a sex offender.
Kenneth Michael Krause was living on East Game Farm Road in Kennewick for four months before his landlord found out he was a sex offender, court documents said. He told officials he was a transient living in Pasco.
The woman whose property he was living on has two elementary school-aged children, court documents said. It's unclear if the woman and her children were living on the property with Krause.
Krause was sentenced Thursday in Benton County Superior Court to 17 months in prison for failing to register. The 23-year-old was convicted in 2004 of first-degree rape of a child in Snohomish County.
Krause also was convicted of failing to register in 2009, prosecutors said.
The woman called police Oct. 21 after she found out Krause was a sex offender, court documents said.
The woman said she was scared to ask Krause to leave because he has a temper, court documents said.
Krause told Department of Corrections officials monitoring him that he was living in Memorial Park, court documents said.
