The Wildhorse Foundation, a community benefit fund of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, recently awarded about $176,000 to 30 recipients in Washington and Oregon.
The money will help local public health, safety, education, the arts, historic preservation, gambling addiction services, salmon restoration, environmental protection and cultural activities.
Walla Walla received $2,500 for the Walla Walla Council's After School Camp and Scholarship Program, $5,000 for the new Frenchtown Historical Foundation site and $5,000 to the Sherwood Trust Community Leadership Program.
The Irrigon Little League received $7,000 to expand the youth sports field complex. Umatilla received $7,000 to upgrade a Little League field.
Hermiston School District received $5,000 for its outdoor school program. The Hermiston Inland Northwest Musicians received $3,000 to help students of Umatilla, Morrow and Wallowa counties.
