Power has been restored to several Pasco schools, but workers have yet to restore power to hundreds of others in east Pasco.
Roughly 1,700 customers lost power at 7:30 a.m. when there was an infrastructure failure in one of Franklin PUD's underground vaults, a utility official said. Power to Ochoa Middle School, Virgie Robinson and Whittier elementary schools was restored by about 11:10 a.m.
Pasco schools are on early release for conferences today, but classes at the affected schools were in session despite buildings not having power for much of the shortened day, said a release from the district.
Ochoa students were dismissed at 10:40 a.m. while elementary students were released at 11:50 a.m.
Never miss a local story.
According to the Franklin PUD website, the areas affected by the outage are from 5th Avenue to Court Street and surrounding areas to the east.
