Speeding in foggy condition likely contributed to a Wednesday morning crash in which a Paterson woman T-boned a semi-truck on Highway 221 about 15 miles south of Prosser.
The semi was carrying onions and backing into Bybee Produce when the northbound Jeep Liberty driven by Amanda Fejes collided with the truck’s tire about 9 a.m. near Anderson Road.
Fejes was driving too fast for the foggy conditions, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Stephen Jackson.
Fejes, 24, was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland and was listed in satisfactory condition.
The semi’s driver, Victor I. Khryk, 25, of South Carolina, was not injured, the state patrol said.
Heavy fog limited visibility along the highway to about 100 yards.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Jody Metz urged drivers to slow down and turn on their lights when there’s fog.
“They're not going to help you see — they’re to help others see you,” she said.
