Scammers continue to target customers of the Franklin PUD.
Customers are reporting telephone calls telling them they have not paid their electric bill and that the Public Utility District has a truck standing by to shut off their power. The calls, which have been targeting Hispanic businesses, are not from the Franklin PUD, the agency said.
Franklin PUD does make courtesy collection calls after customers have received a “late bill payment due” notice in their monthly statement. But the agency does not solicit customers by phone just for payment. To check to see if a call is legitimate, call Franklin PUD at 509-547-5591.
