A Burbank girl will be the grand marshal of the Burbank fire department's annual parade, which begins at 11 a.m. Oct. 5.
Lacey Scott, 9, has juvenile myositis, one of a group of rare and life-threatening diseases in which the body's immune system attacks itself. Because of her disease, she is unable to play outdoors and suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. She is the daughter of Shellie Scott of Burbank.
The parade begins on Maple Street, goes left on Second Avenue, left on Main Street, right on Fourth Avenue and left on Humorist Road to the fire station.
To help raise money for her medical costs, there will be a barbecued pork luncheon with beans, coleslaw and potatoes for $5 or a hot dog and soda for $1.50.
Never miss a local story.
Lunch will be served from noon to 2:30 p.m., and there will be entertainment and children's games. The barbecue and entertainment will be at the Burbank Fire Department, 460 Humorist Road.
