A 26-year-old man who was shot by a Kennewick police officer in June made his first court appearance Thursday since the shooting.
Dennis Jaymes Skellenger missed his three previous appearances because of complications from the wound he suffered during the shooting.
He pleaded innocent during the hearing to charges of attempting to elude police and third-degree assault.
The charges stem from a June 15 incident when Skellenger allegedly ran from officers and hid behind a tractor before he was shot.
Never miss a local story.
The bullet hit Skellenger's wrist before traveling through his back. He has been in and out of the hospital since.
An independent review of the incident found Officer Jeremy Taylor was justified in shooting Skellenger.
