Teachers in the Kennewick School District will vote Sept. 5 whether to approve a newly-negotiated contract with the district.
The contract for Kennewick Education Association members expired Aug. 31. Union members will meet at Kamiakin High School at 4 p.m. to hold the vote.
The union held a rally last week at the district's Fruitland building near Kennewick High School to call attention to the ongoing negotiations.
Union president Teri Staudinger said she couldn't predict how the membership will vote to approve the contract, but she was optimistic.
"We feel we were able to come to a compromise with the district," she told the Herald.
Unions for the Richland and Pasco school districts approved new contracts weeks ago, state union officials said.
