KENNEWICK -- Supporters have organized a "Dancing for Cassidy" event to raise money for a Southridge High School senior seriously injured in a fall in mid-July.
Cassidy Almquist, 18, crushed vertebrae in her back and broke other bones when she fell more than 40 feet from a rope swing at an Eastern Oregon church camp. She recently returned home for a short stay before going to Seattle for her first round of physical therapy.
The event will run all day at Synergy Dance Project, 3810 Clearwater Ave., Kennewick. Classes in various dance styles from cheer to Zumba will be taught from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A dance-a-thon runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and is open to all ages. Participants are asked to pledge to dance for four hours and get friends and family to be sponsors.
Never miss a local story.
There also will be a drawing, kids' activities and games.
