Several community college and high school students from the Mid-Columbia brought home honors from a recent national vocational skills competition.
Columbia Basin College student Benjamin Hale won a gold medal in computer numeric control, or CNC, at the 49th annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Competition in Kansas City, Mo.
Kennewick resident Ryan Walker, a student at the Tri-Tech Skills Center, was awarded the high school silver medal in the diesel equipment technology category.
CBC's welding fabrication team, which includes Emily Lemos, Brian True and Jarrett Wyman, won a bronze medal. Nursing student Rachel Guettner took third place in a medical terminology competition.

Another CBC student, Jason Crane of Kennewick, was awarded a certificate for his skill in medical math. Kennewick native Ricardo Castro, who is attending Walla Walla Community College, earned a certificate for automotive refinishing technology.
