Retired Benton County Commissioner Leo Bowman recently was awarded the “2013 Salmon Recovery Leader” by the Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board for his leadership on the board for more than a decade.
When steelhead and bull trout were listed under the Endangered Species Act in 1999, Bowman was among the first to work toward creating a fair and locally-driven process to distribute Salmon Recovery Funding Board dollars to projects, according to a news release.
