A Walla Walla resident was taken to a local hospital after several people reported gunshots were fired Sunday night on Ballou Road off Highway 11.
Cager York, 21, was reportedly shot at a house on the country road at about 8:20 p.m., according to the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials are unsure, however, whether York was hit by gunfire, Umatilla County Sheriff Terry Rowan said this morning.
York was taken to a local hospital by a person “who dropped him off and boogied,” Rowan said. “A real caring individual.”
Several callers reported seeing a white vehicle carrying up to five individuals who were discharging one or more firearms, Rowan said.
“We don’t have very much at this point. My detectives were out a good part of the night trying to run down any leads,” Rowan said. “The victim in this case has not been very vocal about who committed this act. We believe he does have information.”
York was reportedly in stable condition Sunday night, but neither Providence St. Mary Medical Center or Walla Walla General Hospital could confirm he was a patient this morning.
