A jury of four men and 11 women was picked Tuesday afternoon to hear evidence in the March 2011 shooting death of a Pasco woman.
Opening statements will beginWednesday morning in Tashia L. Stuart's trial, followed by prosecution witnesses.
The Franklin County Superior Court trial started May 28 and is expected to last four to five weeks.
Stuart, 40, is charged with first-degree murder with aggravating circumstances and attempted first-degree murder. Prosecutors allege she killed her 58-year-old mother, Judy Hebert, after the two women argued about money.
Stuart claims she acted in self-defense and only shot her mother after the older woman came at her with an ax. Stuart, her then-7-year-old daughter and her husband had lived with Hebert for two months.
Her husband, Todd Stuart, was acquitted by a jury last fall on charges he conspired with his wife and tried to kill Hebert in the weeks before her actual death.
