PROSSER -- The Prosser School Board has started searching for a community member to fill Pos. No. 5 recently vacated by board member Travis Davis.
The board accepted Davis' resignation Tuesday. He said in a letter to the district that he was moving to the Tri-Cities and no longer would live in the district.
Anyone appointed to the board would serve for two years before having to run for election, according to a release.
Candidates must live in the area designated for the seat, which includes land south of West Johnson Road, north of West Buena Vista Road and the Old Inland Empire Highway, as well as parts of downtown Prosser.
Never miss a local story.
The district has 90 days to fill the vacancy.
Applications will be accepted until June 14, followed by interviews of top candidates by the board.
A new board member is expected to be appointed by July 2.
