A Kennewick teacher recently won $250,000 from Washington’s Mega Millions lottery.
The winning ticket was bought at the Circle K convenience store at 483 Broadmoor Blvd., in Pasco. The winner said he noticed the Mega Millions jackpot was $100 million at the time while getting gas and used left over money to tickets for Mega Millions and Powerball.
The man, who was only identified as a father of three daughters, teaches health and physical education and has requested anonymity, thought he at first had won only $2,500 but then realized it was for 100 times that amount.
“Oh my goodness, there’s a lot of zeros in there!” he recalled in a release. “My wife and I were in shock!”
The winner and his wife went out to dinner to tell two of their daughters. They told their third daughter, who lives in Idaho, over the phone.
The man said he’ll use the money to take his family to Mexico for a vacation, as they did last year. He said he was most excited because the money will help pay for his daughters’ to attend college.
The store that sold the ticket will receive a $2,500 selling bonus.
