A woman and three German shepherds were in a van that caught fire Saturday afternoon on Interstate 82 south of Kennewick about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Alisha Dickenson of Kennewick.
The flames spread to the brush, burning about 150 acres before the fire was contained four hours later.
Dickinson’s parents, Mark and Corky Clark, were driving south on Interstate 82 when they saw the van on the side of the road smoking and a woman throwing things out of the back seat, Dickenson said.
When they stopped, they realized the van was on fire and that she was trying to get three German shepherds in plastic kennels out of the back seat. Mark Clark pulled the woman out of the back seat and then the dogs, Dickenson said, The woman, whose name was not available, was taken to Kennewick General Hospital.
