TOUCHET -- The annual Hindman Memorial Cattle Dog Trial is May 18-19 at
9 Mile Ranch near Touchet.
The trial begins at 8 a.m. and runs until 4 or 5 p.m., depending on the number of dogs.
Anyone who wants to watch is welcome. There is no admission charge.
There are four competition classes each day:
- Open, for any handler with any dog;
- Nursery, for any handler with a dog born on or after Jan. 1, 2011;
- Intermediate, for any handler who has not competed in open class after April 12, 2012, and not received points in open class; and
- Rancher, for any handler who has never won a cow dog trial or has never placed in a cow dog trial more than five times as of Jan. 1 with any dog.
The ranch is off Highway 12, about seven miles west of Touchet or about six miles east of Wallula Junction.
The cattle dog trial is part of the 2013 Intermountain Stock Dog Series.
