A transient has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape after an officer at the nearby Kennewick Police Headquarters saw him accost a Kennewick city employee, according to police reports.
The woman had parked her car on the east side of Kennewick City Hall at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday and was walking across the parking lot when she was confronted by Brandon Hankle, 30, according to police reports.
He allegedly told her he planned to have sex with her there, according to police reports.
The woman ran to City Hall and was able to get inside the building. The suspect left then, headed toward Keewaydin Park.
Commander Scott Child, who was at police headquarters across the street, saw the incident and, along with Commander Craig Littrell and Sgt. Mark Weber, found Hankle in the park and took him into custody.
