Kamiakin and Hanford high schools were included on a national listing of schools noted for challenging their students.
More than 1,900 schools across the country made it onto the Washington Post's America's Most Challenging High Schools, with only 29 coming from Washington. Kamiakin High in Kennewick came in at 21st in the state while Richland's Hanford High was 28th.
The list includes 9 percent of the nation's roughly 22,000 public and private high schools. The schools are scored based on the number of tests given for Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate Education divided by the number of students who graduated that year.
