A Richland safety engineer plans to pay off his mortgage and invest for his retirement with the $140,000 he won playing Washington’s Lottery Hit 5 game.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, checked his ticket numbers on Washington Lottery’s website at 4:30 a.m. Sunday after his swing shift in Richland, according to a news release from Washington Lottery.
He said he checked the numbers two or three times before calling his wife to share the good news. Despite the early morning wake-up call, he said his wife was thrilled, the release said.
He bought the ticket at the Safeway store on George Washington Way in Richland, where he often buys Lottery tickets. He plays Lotto, Match 4 and Hit 5 weekly. In the past, he’s won $10,000 playing Match 4 and $1,000 on other games, but has never won the jackpot amount, the release said.
He and his wife plan to pay off their mortgage and invest the rest for their retirement, the release said.
