Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho is offering vasectomy services for men and Essure services for women at its Kennewick health center.
The vasectomy procedure, which involves severing the vas deferens, is minimally invasive, with recovery time of one to two days, a news release said.
Essure uses small inserts to block the fallopian tubes, preventing ovulation, the release said. There's no incision and recovery time is about 45 minutes, it said.
Both procedures are covered by most major insurers and Medicaid, and they're permanent and irreversible, Planned Parenthood said. "Only those who are certain they are finished having children should consider permanent birth control," the news release said.
