The $1.5 million Claybell Park/Bellerive Drive project in Richland is getting under way.
The city and its contractor have started preparation work, said a city news release.
The project will include building four new tennis courts at the park, and adding two new multisport fields, a new walking trail around the fields, a new bathroom and a new parking lot.
Bellerive Drive will be extended to the end of the new sports fields; additional parking will be available along the newly extended road.
"The original Claybell Park parking lot will be closed during the project and visitors are encouraged to park on Broadmoor Street. The existing tennis courts are expected to remain open until the new tennis courts are completed," said city officials.
Details are on the city's website, www.ci.richland.wa.us, under the Claybell Park/Bellerive Drive Project tab.
