Local ranchers will give beef to hundreds of Pasco families through the Beef Counts program Tuesday.
Second Harvest's Mobile Food Bank will provide more than 300 local families and seniors with packages of high-quality beef donated by Washington's beef community, as well as healthy produce and other perishable items, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pasco Boys and Girls Club, 333 Court Street.
The event is part of Beef Counts Week, and similar giving is occurring in Toppenish, Ellensburg and Spokane.
Since 2010, the Beef Counts program has donated more than $226,700 worth of beef to Second Harvest, which translates into more than 400,000 3-ounce servings of protein.
Family-sized packs of lean and nutritious beef roast are processed and packaged by Agri Beef Co's. Washington Beef processing facility in Toppenish.
Tax-deductible donations can be made at www.beefcounts.org. All donations up to $50,000 are matched by Agri Beef Co.
