There are plenty of events to honor veterans this weekend around the Mid-Columbia. Here's a list of them:
w Annual West Richland Veterans Day Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. today and travels east along Van Giesen Street, beginning at Grosscup Road and ending at the City Hall on 38th Avenue.
w The Columbia River Young Marines are sponsoring a free-to-veterans appreciation dinner that include spaghetti, salad, bread and dessert. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. today at Grace Point Church of God, 1915 N. Road 84, Pasco. For more information, call 582-9208.
w Texas Roadhouse will serve free meals to veterans throughout Veterans Day weekend. Veterans eat free from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. To receive the free entre and beverage, veterans must show valid credentials or military identification.
Texas Roadhouse is at 845 N. Columbia Center Blvd., Kennewick.
w A Veterans Day observance starts at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Regional Veterans Memorial in Columbia Park in Kennewick. Tom McMillin, president of the Tri-Cities Memorial Committee and a Navy veteran, said members of various organizations will participate in the ceremony at the east end of the park near the Highway 240 exit.
w To thank veterans for all their sacrifices and service, the Autobahn Auto Care Center at 3928 W. Clearwater Ave. in Kennewick will be offering a free car wash to all veterans from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Veterans Day.
w The Columbia Chorale will pay tribute to American soldiers in a Veterans Day concert Sunday in the sanctuary at the First Presbyterian Church in Kennewick. The free concert starts at 3 p.m. at the church at 2001 W. Kennewick Ave., Kennewick. Donations are welcome.
w Bush Car Wash in Richland is offering free car washes to retired or active duty military from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at 1131 Aaron Drive. There are more than 1,600 worldwide car washes offering this service on Veterans Day as part of the Grace for Vets program. See graceforvets.org for more details.
w The annual Veterans Day Parade starts at 11 a.m. Monday in downtown Prosser.
The parade starts at Keene-Riverview Elementary School and follows the traditional States Day parade route through the downtown area. For more information call 509-778-1820 or the Prosser Chamber of Commerce at 509-786-3177.
w Richland Gardens Assisted Living is holding a recognition party at 6 p.m. Tuesday for veterans living at the facility. There will be a gun salute by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, music and a historic discussion about Hanford and how the facility played a role in winning World War II.
