Kennewick's Tayler Plunkett, reigning Miss Tri-Cities Outstanding Teen, is organizing a benefit concert to raise funds and awareness for Down syndrome research.
The two-hour concert begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Southridge High School, 3520 Southridge Blvd., Kennewick.
A portion will be donated to Anna's Angels Foundation, a nonprofit foundation at Duke University's Children's Hospital. The rest of the proceeds will go to the Down Syndrome Association of the Mid-Columbia.
Minimum donation is $10 for adults and $5 for children. All proceeds will be donated in the name of Emma McLaughlin-Coomes, the 2-year-old daughter of Brittany McLaughlin and Frank Coomes.
Never miss a local story.
In July, Emma, who has Down syndrome, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and is being treated at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
