A new Toyota Camry LE soon will be sitting in Tom Duzan's driveway in Kennewick, thanks to a swiftly bobbing rubber ducky.
Duzan took the top prize in the Mid-Columbia Duck Race on Saturday in Columbia Park.
"We usually have 40,000 ducks, but we upped it this year and had 42,000," said Tracy Sunday of the Columbia Center Rotary.
The 24th annual race raised about $200,000, which will be split among the six Rotary clubs in the Tri-Cities.
"They each get a percentage based on the number of tickets their members sold," Sunday said. "The clubs each choose which charities they want to donate the money to, usually it goes to local nonprofits."
For a $5 investment in a yellow duck, about 50 entrants won prizes ranging from a kitchen appliance makeover to a 90-minute scenic flight.
