A Pasco woman was injured Monday evening after she was struck by a car while walking across Sylvester Street. She was not in a crosswalk, according to police.
Pasco police Sgt. John Probasco said the woman had just left the 7-Eleven on the corner of 15th Avenue and Sylvester Street around 6 p.m. and crossed Sylvester at mid-block.
The driver was heading west on Sylvester and stopped at the traffic light when it turned green.
"With the sun being so bright in her eyes, she couldn't see the woman jaywalking," Probasco said.
Never miss a local story.
The pedestrian was knocked down and had abrasions on one of her arms, Probasco said. She was taken to Kennewick General Hospital, but Probasco said her injuries were nonlife-threatening.
