The Port of Kennewick plans an open house on the Vista Field Airport planning, environment and economic analysis 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bechtel board room in the Tri-Cities Business & Visitors Center.
The center is at 7130 W. Grandridge Blvd., Kennewick.
The port recently hired consultant Duany Plater-Zyberk & Co. of Portland to look at specific possibilities for the Kennewick airport.
The $225,000 study will cover options that range from improving the airport to closing it in favor of redevelopment.
Never miss a local story.
As part of this study, the port is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement for the alternatives. Part of the open house will include identifying and narrowing the impact statement to a discussion of significant environmental issues.
Port commissioners then will pick a preferred alternative considering the outcome of the impact statement and possible public advisory vote next spring.
