Eight Pasco School District employees were awarded Staff Achievement Awards by the district this week, while a sixth-grade teacher was honored with another award after being nominated by a student.
The winners of the 2012 Staff Achievement Awards were nominated and selected by others in the district. The winners were Alisha Miller, Blanca Zepeda, Linda King, Monica Cardenas, Mark Arreola, Teresa Wylie, Rosantina Lee and Anne DeHaven.
The winners will receive $1,000 and up to five days of time away from work to pursue professional development.
Marcia Harrell, who teaches at Stevens Middle School, was awarded the district's North Star Award. The award is given to employees for going above and beyond their duties. Pasco High School senior Carlos Garcia nominated his former teacher, saying in his letter Harrell changed his life.
